“It is one of the superstitions of the human mind to have imagined that virginity could be a virtue.” – Voltaire
Virgin Beach, Bali. It is very surprising that there is a white sand beach located in the east coast of Bali Island since most of east coast of Bali covered with brownish or black sand. This beach has a million names. Some people call it Virgin Beach or Perasi Beach or White Sand Beach.
The eastern coast of the island of Bali is famous for its black sand. There are only a few beaches have white sand, including beaches in Padang Bai and Virgin Beach. People call Virgin Beach as White Sand Beach since this beach has white sands, it’s different with any other beaches in Karangasem, Bali.
The word “Virgin Beach” must refer to a beach that is quiet, calm, not many visitors coming, and no facility at all. This beach fails to represent its name. Virgin Beach was already visited by many people. When I was there, it was quite crowded with visitors. Some locals also provides some facilities like umbrellas, beach chairs, and so forth.
Perasi Beach sounds better for me anyway, more exotic. I think it used to be a “virgin beach” before people knew Google and other search engine. Now everyone could easily find even the most secluded beach in Bali.
