“The pine stays green in winter, wisdom in hardship.” – Norman Douglas
Cemara Beach, Lombok. When we heard the word “Lombok”, we would immediately associated it to chilli (Lombok = Indonesian/Javanese word for chilli) or an island located in the east of Bali. Lately, Lombok become a popular tourist destination since it has amazing beaches. One of those beautiful beaches in Lombok is Cemara Beach (or Pantai Cemara in Bahasa Indonesia).
Cemara Beach has beautiful white sand with shades of turquoise and blue sea color. Located in a bay, Cemara Beach sea surface seemed so calm. There is less distraction while enjoying this divine nature that is attached at the southeastern tip of the island of Lombok. As far as my eyes could see, there are only a few houses, an eroded rock, a lump of red corals, and some traditional boats. Although named Cemara Beach (cemara means pine tree in Bahasa Indonesia), does not mean the beach is covered with pine trees. We only saw a few trees. not many.
Cemara Beach is so peaceful. At that time, only three of us and a couple of locals who visit it. Lying on the beach, feel the touch of ripples, feel the sand grains of pepper touched every inch of the body, listening to the song of Good for Me by Above & Beyond, instantly swiped away all pains and burdens of life.
What makes Lombok beaches are very unique is the sands. They are perfectly round-shaped. They look like peppers or coriander spread along the beach. Cemara Beach has the same type of sand as well, but Cemara Beach sands far whiter than other beautiful Lombok beaches.
How to Get There
Cemara Beach is located in Central Lombok Regency, more precisely around the coordinates -8.890922, 116.507067. Cemara Beach can be reached about 1-1.5 hour drive from Lombok International Airport. This unique beach is located not far from the paved road. Far more reachable than some other beautiful beaches in southern part of Lombok.
