Perak Island is a tiny island located in the northern part of Thousand Islands cluster (Kepulauan Seribu), Jakarta, Indonesia. This island is uninhabited. The shallow crystal water and white sands beach surrounding the island are very worth to see. Visitors usually do some beach activities, such as swimming or sunbatching along the tranquil white sands beach, or jumping from the pier into the beach.
Perak Island is located in the cluster of Thousand Islands. It is 2 – 3,5 hours north trip from Jakarta to Harapan Island/Kelapa Island Island (before continuing to Perak Island) depending on which kind of transportation you use, by a cheapest yet slower regular boat or faster yet more expensive speedboat.
How to Get There:
Wherever you come from, you have to reach Jakarta first before continuing to go to Muara Angke or Marina Ancol to get a boat trip to Thousand Islands (Kepulauan Seribu). Remember that the boat is only available at 6-7 o’clock in the morning. The cost that you have to pay for the boat from Muara Angke to Harapan/Kelapa Island is Rp 30.000, while the boat from Marina Ancol (the fastest one) costs Rp150.000.
After reaching Harapan Island/Kelapa Island, you can continue doing island hopping around northern part of Thousand Islands including Perak Island. You can rent a boat costs Rp350.000/boat/day which has 10-15 person capacity to do so.
Perak Island doesn’t have any lodging or other facilities at all. There are many homestays that you can rent for a room or a house in the main island of Thousand Island, Harapan Island/Kelapa Island, instead. Homestay with 5 rooms costs around Rp 500.000/house/night.
