Tidung consists of two islands, Big Tidung Island and Small Tidung Island, but almost of all people always call it only Tidung Island. These two islands are located on the clusters of the Thousand Islands (Kepulauan Seribu), Jakarta, Indonesia. A bridge connecting these islands makes them become famous among the travelers.
Mostly, the visitors are interested to go to these islands because of the exotic bridge mentioned above. They are usually jumping from that bridge into the sea. Other interesting activities in Tidung Island includes swimming, snorkeling, sunbathing, and biking around the island. A bike that you can rent for only Rp15.000 is available in many bicycle rentals on this island.
Tidung Island is located in the cluster of Thousand Islands. It needs 2 – 3,5 hours trip to the north of Jakarta to Tidung Island depending on which kind of transportation you use, by a cheapest yet slower regular boat or faster yet more expensive speedboat.
How to Get There:
Wherever the starting point you come from, you have to reach Jakarta first before continuing to go to Muara Angke or Marina Ancol to get a boat trip to Thousand Islands (Kepulauan Seribu). Remember that the boat is only available at 6-7 o’clock in the morning. The cost that you have to pay for the boat from Muara Angke to Tidung Island is Rp 33.000, while the cost of the boat from Marina Ancol (the fastest one) is Rp150.000.
After reaching Tidung Island, you can continue doing island hopping around Thousand Islands, especially to Air Island which has a wonderful underwater view. You can rent a boat costs Rp350.000/boat/day which has 10-15 persons of capacity to do so.
Tidung Island has many homestays and other facilities. A homestay with 3 rooms costs around Rp 250.000/house/night. To save your money, you can share it with 3 – 15 persons.
